More solo 'NSYNC?
Dotmusic, 22 October 2002

'NSYNC star, JC Chasez, looks set to follow in the footsteps of bandmate Justin Timberlake by releasing his own solo album. According to reports, the singer is currently working with sought-after producer Dallas Austin on the soundtrack for a new movie, but seems to be getting a taste for solo work. Austin, who has recorded four tracks with JC, says one song, 'Blowin' Me Up' is a strong contender to be the first single from the 'Drumline' soundtrack.
"We've been doing some great, great material," he said this week. "At first he wasn't going to do a record, but I think now he's kind of interested, so we'll probably just keep recording. We were just writing songs for the movie and we caught a niche and it was like, 'Oh sh*t, this is cool for you, let's keep going.'" Austin described the songs as a collection of fun, fast-paced songs and mid-tempo ballads.
He told MTV: "It's back to George Michael and Prince and that '80s era, where even though you had up-tempos, they still had songs to them, they had a lot of attitude. It was a trip because we didn't realize how far away music had gotten from doing real songs until we started working on this stuff." The 'Drumline' soundtrack is released in the US on December 10 and features tracks from JC, Alicia Keys, Monica, Petey Pablo and Nivea.
